Atom Mom 04:17
I’ve been meaning to write you I’ve been meaning to figure out what the meanings for I’ve been trying to talk up all the things that I put down I’ve been trying to talk myself up to everyone else But please don’t grow up on me Please don’t grow up too sweet Lets say that I sound like a singer who you’ll never hear Like a Jeffrey like a Robert like a Neil Or like the one with the curly hair That I used to wear But please don’t grow up on me Please don’t grow up too sweet And when you found out that they split the atom Did it break your heart? And when you found out that they’d found the first fossil of man Did it make you want to stop or start…? Please don’t grow up on me I’ve been trying to mean well I’ve been meaning to think hard I’ve been thinking about you And I know that you don’t know just where Or who I am But please don’t grow up too sweet Lets say that I sound like a singer who you’ll never hear Like a Jeffrey like a Robert like a Neil Or like the one with the curly hair That I used to bear And when you found out that they split the atom Did it break your heart? And when you found out that they’d found the first fossil of man Did it make you want to stop or start…? But please don’t grow up on me Please don’t grow up too sweet Please don’t grow up like me And when you found out that they split the atom Did it break your heart?

Asymptote 04:09
Put down your weapon and I swear I’ll leave my light on I know you’ve tried so hard because I’ve seen you try for so long Well, whats the point when you’ve already been a round? To try another home start again another new town Maybe I am a dream And maybe she’ll never wake up anyways “Whatever happens happens,” right, Spike? For all that I know I’m born new everyday So here’s an antidote go listen to a love song And right about the part where it always seems to go wrong You take your speakers and you throw them out the window You’re laughing, screaming, crying, “lovers look out up and below” Maybe I am asleep And maybe I’ll never wake up anyway “Whatever happens happens,” right, Spike? For all that I know I’m born new everyday So whats your mission? Whats your raison d’etre? When your kissing Are you in love with him or death? Yes whats your mission? Whats your raison d’etre? When your kissing Are you in love with her or death? What are you missing…? Put down your weapon and I swear I’ll make my heart strong I don’t care what you’ve dropped because you’ve carried it for so long Go mind the asymptote: fate doesn’t work like love songs The parts that feel most right are often built by those that feel wrong Maybe I am adream And maybe I’ll never wake up anyway “Whatever happens happens,” right, Spike? For all that I know I’m born new everyday So whats your mission? Whats your raison d’etre? When your kissing Are you in love with him or death? Yes whats your mission? Whats your raison d’etre? When your kissing Are you in love with her or death? What are you missing…?

Well 03:08
If you went down a well For more than just a spell Would your mana break? Would it be more than you could take? And if you found a book Of all the things you’d thought Would you leave it there Or would it be something that you bought? And now you’re growing up so tall You’re building ladders to climb walls But you’ll never seen What it really meant to me And maybe you’re not different Maybe you’re not the same A bow needs an arrow But an arrow alone is not tame And now infected… infected… Teach it to me slow please How you’re fond of your disease How you found the cancer cell To be the perfect spell To cure your mind-ache Well god I think my first mistake Was to let my body drift Slowly down the well

I aint much of a looker And I aint got the fattest pocket book But I guarantee if you stick around You’ll find something you aint never seen Call it perspective: a truth Unsleuthed by the worlds very best detective Hidden in the tall grass, in the small rain, In the lights of the buildings and planes Things get better before they get worse I’m told That growing old aint as fun as dying young Points without connections: How long in life, or love, before you’re used to it? Soon we go like clouds unspun May be something out there or in here Who’s to say when south is up in space? Do-se-do is hidden in the dark star, in the sleep sand And the lights of your eyes milky ways Things get better before they get worse I’m told That growing old aint as fun as dying young

Eric 04:09
Eric says that he thinks he might be in too deep To be darned or to be mended His sister says that he should smile Because he has those off-white teeth that make him seem the real thing He says he’ll go if they stay or if you find a reason Why some things are just harder He says he knows what you mean And that to stop pretending might be the end of him So cut them open while they’re sleeping And take all the marrow out Sew them up so in the daylight They’ll try to stand but they won’t know how His sister says that she’s been dreaming Of rocks and cliffs and sand but in the nighttime she is buried Eric inters the body with his feet and teeth and hands He says here’s a grave to swim in She says oh no, don’t take me, I swear I’ll find your reason But you have to know I’m trying To get by, we all are, if you say you’re not you’re faking, We’re all in just as deep. So cut them open while they’re sleeping And take all the marrow out Sew them up so in the daylight They’ll try to stand but they won’t know how

Soft 04:48
You spend your life just trying to get off Looking for someone who you consider soft We don’t have rhythm don’t need no meter no matter no more And in the long run are you bored? You’re taking a shower to wake you up Just trying to hold on to some of that good luck There’s not a reason that you slow down turn divine But what would you do when you’re out of time? I’m breaking ground I’m tired of this one and the other same old towns I have a poor aunt named poet for show She writes the least beautiful prose I lie to her when her writing is in sight Her work is no better but her smile is all right You spend your days just trying not to get cross Thinking of things you fought for and then tossed We don’t have reason don’t need to learnin’ no logic no more And in the short term are you sure? You’re taking a shower to clean you up Just trying to wash off some of that bad luck There’s not a reason that you slow down turn divine But what would you do with all the time? I’m breaking down I’m tired of this one and the other same old towns I have a poor aunt named poet for show She writes the least beautiful prose I lie to her when her writing is in sight Her work is no better but her smile is all right

I’m thinking about the way you comb your hair I’m thinking about the way you comb your hair It’s straight as any ocean wave and dancing in the air I’m thinking about the way you comb your hair You wouldn’t believe what you’ve done to me Somewhere between real bliss and unreal grief I don’t doubt that you are an angel come to save me with your wings But I don’t want saving from anything I’m thinking about the way you comb your hair It’s warm and late and dark in the night air So kiss me like a scorpion and damn me like a prayer I’m thinking about the way you comb your hair Holy moly, Moses, did you see How that other person made me feel? With thunderbolts and raindrops and sweaty, flannel sheets I’m thinking that it’s better off just me I’m thinking about the way you move your hair It always seems to shine but never glares Your beauty is like a razor, soft and cold but still my savior I’m thinking about the way you comb your hair And I fall asleep And break the will of day But after all of these things What more is to say…?
